Pilot Progression

Before HESLO Training

  • Minimum 10h on helicopter type

Before Acting as PIC (under supervision)

  • Complete previous HESLO level
  • Complete required flight instruction (hours + cycles)

Before Acting as Unsupervised PIC

  • Complete ground training + reviewed specialist syllabus
  • Complete supervised missions + minimum flight experience

Human External Cargo (HEC)

Instructor Requirements

HESLO Instructor

  • 500h HESLO, 10h as unsupervised PIC at relevant level
  • “Teaching & learning” component or prior aerial work instructor experience

HEC Instructor

  • 100+ cycles in HEC ops at equal or higher level
  • “Teaching & learning” component or prior aerial work instructor experience
